All About Me
I've loved the water for as long as I can remember. It’s always been my happy place. Growing up in Melbourne, even in the middle of winter, I’d dive straight into freezing cold water. No one in their right mind would do that—but there I was, just a little kid with blue lips and no intention of getting out.
I was only three when I caught three flathead in one afternoon, and that was it—I was hooked. By the time I was ten, I’d ride my bike across town with a fishing rod and some bait, spending whole days on the water.

Over the years, I’ve thrown myself into all sorts of water-based adventures—diving, spearfishing, offshore fishing. I went from being a carpenter to a dive instructor, and eventually started running fishing charters. Honestly, I’ve fished just about everywhere in Australia. When my wife and I moved to the Sunshine Coast in the early ’90s, I didn’t waste any time. I bought a little 13-footer and was out fishing every day after work.

Fishing has always been my sanctuary. When things get tough, that’s where I go. It’s not just about catching fish—it’s about catching your breath. The secret? Observation. Reading the water, reading nature—it’s almost spiritual. You’ve got to tune in and really feel it. Sometimes I head out with no plan, but once I’m on the water, I just know. I’ll look around and think, “That way.” And more often than not, it works.

I truly believe fishing teaches kids a lot. It gives them something to focus on and keeps them grounded. I still remember my son fishing solo on the river when he was little—and to this day, I am still just as passionate. Once it grabs hold of you, it never really lets go—in the best way.

These days, I’m focused on making fishing fun and accessible for families, along with taking the serious punters to catch some decent fish. I love sharing the joy it’s always given me. Fishing levels the playing field. It connects us—to nature, to ourselves, and to each other. That’s where the real magic is.
